Paying respects on Remembrance Day
Residents and staff at Carinity aged care communities around Queensland have honoured fallen soldiers on Remembrance Day.
At a well-attended ceremony at Carinity Cedarbrook on 11 November, 100-year-old resident Gordon Jamieson paid his respects to fallen military mates.
Gordon fought with the Australian Army in the Malayan campaign during World War II.
He became a captive of Japanese military forces and was a prisoner of war for three years, contributing to the building of the Thai-Burma railway line.
Remembrance Day gatherings at Carinity Cedarbrook and other Carinity aged care communities across Queensland also included special displays of military information and memorabilia.
